How to Add Smileys (Emoticons) to the Chat

All smileys are stored in the emoticon/ folder in the chat root. The chat reads this folder on its own, so you don't need to edit code or the database.

Supported formats

.png   .svg   .gif   .webp

1. Add a single smiley

  1. Upload the image straight into emoticon/, for example emoticon/happy.png
  2. The file name, without the extension, becomes the smiley code: happy.png →
  3. Refresh the chat. The smiley appears in the smiley panel and works in messages.

2. Add a new category (tab)

  1. Create a subfolder, for example emoticon/food/
  2. Put the images inside it, for example emoticon/food/pizza.png → :pizza:
  3. Add a tab icon with the same name as the folder: emoticon_icon/food.png
  4. Refresh the chat. A new tab appears in the smiley menu.

3. Special category types

Folder name contains Display style
sticker (e.g. sticker_animals) Large sticker
custom (e.g. custom_vip) Custom style
Anything else Normal smiley

Rules & tips

  • Every file name must be unique, even across different folders.
  • Use only English letters, numbers and underscores (_). No spaces.
  • Keep files small (around 50 KB or less).
  • Tab icons in emoticon_icon/ must be .png.
  • To remove a smiley, delete its file.
